MICROBIOLOGY SUPERVISOR
Introduction
M&L Laboratory Services (Pty) Ltd (part of the Bureau Veritas Group of Companies) is recruiting a Microbiology Supervisor based at the Operations in Ormonde to assist with managing all business lines related to Micro and Food.
Minimum Requirements
- A tertiary qualification – BSc or a Diploma in Microbiology, Biotechnology or similar.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years Laboratory experience.
- Technical signatory and/or Technical qualified
Job Specification
Main Responsibilities
- Must be fully aware of the policies and practices of the company as specified in the current Quality Management Manuals.
- Ensure that the department performs all its tests timeously and accurately.
- Ensure that all products are tested and analyses in accordance with instructions, international and/or client prescribed methods.
- To maintain a healthy and safe working environment including good housekeeping and proper waste disposal.
- Ensure adherence to the Company PPE Policy (wear and use protective clothing and safety items issued).
- Ensure the smooth operation of the laboratory daily.
- To conduct housekeeping inspections of premises.
- To interpret the results as necessary and offer corrective action.
- Co-ordinate relevant proficiency testing schemes.
- Attend meetings on and off site.
- To initiate and supervise the testing of various products for evaluation and ensure continuous monitoring of GLP.
- To conduct out of specification (OOS), C.A.R.S, investigations.
- To conduct quality control tests on laboratory equipment.
- Ensure that instruments are calibrated and maintained according to requirements and Annual Programmed and that record thereof are kept up to date.
- Ensure to meet/monitor the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025, MCC, PIC’s, GLP and SAHPRA in applicable areas.
- To ensure Training Sessions are attended and performed according to Training Schedules.
- Must know methods to be able to assess method performance of staff.
- Must be knowledgeable and competent in calculation checking.
- Must be knowledgeable and competent to check calibrations, certificates plus reports.
- Must be able to interpret analytical and proficiency data results.
- To maintain the confidentiality of all customer information.
