Laboratory Analyst
Introduction
Villa Crop Protection a subsidiary of Winfield United has a vacancy for a Laboratory Analyst. Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, the incumbent will be responsible for, amongst other duties, analyzing daily samples using key equipment such as GC, GC-MSD, and HPLC, and their basic troubleshooting and maintenance.
The timeous and accurate reporting of these results is key to supporting, amongst other stakeholders, the on-site formulations facility and quality assurance department.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Analyze quality control samples, development samples, technical material, trace contamination samples and other samples according to analysis procedure and methods, using key equipment such as GC, GC-MSD, HPLC.
- Basic troubleshooting and maintenance of the above-mentioned instruments
- Document results and report all results on the required forms or recording media.
- Report any deviations on quality control samples, or out of specification samples to the delegate.
- Ensure that primary and secondary standards have not expired before they are used. Timeously ensure that new standards have been ordered to replace the ones about to expire.
- Develop methods that may be required, escalates to direct line for potential out-sourcing of method development.
- Keep records of these developments as per Laboratory Procedure.
- Validate new methods or when method re-validation is required.
- Assist with the analysis of samples from Customer Complaints.
- Draw up reports on the analysis that will be submitted to the appropriate requester of the analysis, ensure the report is appropriately logged.
Desired Experience & Qualification
EXPERIENCE
- 3 to 5 years’ experience
- Knowledge of Analytical and Laboratory equipment (GC-MS experience critical, with HPLC-MS preferred)
- Ability to use Laboratory scale and apparatus in the Laboratory
- Good understanding of Quality procedures and analytical methods
EDUCATION
- Matric
- Diploma/Degree in Analytical Chemistry or equivalent
