Where you’ll work

An award-winning Employee Experience Agency that partners with businesses to provide their employees with a fantastic employee experience from the day they are hired to the day they retire. They help design and implement solutions focusing on conversations, rewards and recognition, community and culture building, and function.

How you’ll role

As the Project/Programme Manager, you will need to know how to elicit and deliver a good client brief to ensure that the team knows what needs to be done and why. You will need to ensure the team has all the tools to do the job and deliver on point, on quality, and on time to the client. It’s important that you foster a customer-centric environment with the team units within the company. The ideal candidate should love learning, sarcasm, fun, gifs, considering different audiences, bringing their whole self to work, and being organised.

You hold in high esteem: Yourself, where you came from and where you are going—acceptance of diverse backgrounds, schools of thought, and puns. You won’t be a good fit if: You’re close-minded, you don’t believe that gender is a spectrum, have any form of prejudice or hangups, you can’t handle profanity, you mix up Star Trek and Star Wars, you never ‘got’ Lego, or you need a lot of hand holding.

What you’ll do

  • Formulate, organise, and monitor inter-connected projects
  • Decide on suitable strategies and objectives
  • Coordinate cross-project activities
  • Lead and evaluate project managers and other staff
  • Develop and control deadlines, budgets, and activities
  • Apply change, risk, and resource management
  • Assume responsibility for the programme’s people and vendors
  • Assess programme performance and aim to maximise ROI
  • Resolve projects’ higher-scope issues
  • Prepare reports for program directors
  • Do brand promotion
  • Be responsible for profiling clients

What you’ll need

  • Grade 12 English
  • A relevant tertiary qualification
  • To be adaptable to an evolving environment and different client brands
  • Self-management skills, as well as collaborating with a team
  • Solid project management and client relationship skills
  • Proven experience as a programme manager or other managerial position
  • Thorough understanding of project/programme management techniques and methods
  • Product knowledge — you will ‘learn on the job’ about the tech and how it works
  • Excellent knowledge of performance evaluation and change management principles
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office; working knowledge of programme/project management software (, MS Project etc.) is a strong advantage
  • Outstanding leadership and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving ability
  • The ability to show empathy
  • Time management skills
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills

Personal attributes:

  • Take the initiative – if you see something, say something, i.e., if a brief/system/process doesn’t make sense, speak up
  • Have the confidence to ask questions until you have a thorough understanding of what it is that you need to do
  • Have a growth mindset (i.e. learning through failure) – Mistakes are normal, especially when learning on the job and with little experience. You need to be able to learn from your mistakes and move forward.
  • Persistence – Be persistent in getting the answers you need and finding the correct information (your research is super important)
  • Value relationships and building them constructively – with the team, clients, and suppliers
  • Attention to detail (tip: find out how to use Grammarly)
  • Have an interest and an enquiring mind when it comes to the bigger strategic picture (don’t work in a silo or micro mindset)
  • Be open-minded, specifically around the team you’ll be working with and, to a large degree, the type of work/subject matter
