Farm Manager

Our client, an established apple and pear farming company in the EGVV area, requires an energetic Farm Manager for its 55 ha of orchards on 2 farms near Villiersdorp.

A passion for fruit farming and a strong work ethic is essential for this position. Self-drive and personal integrity with the ability for continuous development and improvement will be important. These qualities will favor a candidate over his/her qualifications. The position reports to the General Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities

Managing all facets of the production of pome fruit with emphasis on quality and implementation of best farming practices
Building motivated teams to ensure production efficiency
Irrigation management (35 ha of micro +20 ha of drip)
Area Administration and record keeping

Desired Experience & Qualification

Relevant agricultural qualification
Knowledge and experience of Pome fruit production as well as 5 years’ experience in a similar position
Strong organizational and labour management skills

The ability to communicate effectively on all levels
Ability to work independently and manage detail
Dynamic and innovative team player
Basic computer literacy and email
