A well-established firm that operates within the solar energy sector has an opportunity for an experienced Electrician to join their team in the Pretoria-East area.

Description

Minimum requirements:

• Qualified Installations Electrician and/or Construction Electrician would be highly beneficial
• Wireman’s License would be a benefit
• 3+ years’ experience working within the construction environment as an electrician
• Hands-on person
• Supervisory skills
• Must be willing to travel
• Ability to read plans and laying cables in multiple phases
• Project management skills with a high integrity

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

AC related:

• Terminations and cable glanding up 240 mm cable
• SWA ECC cable glanding up to 240 mm cable
• Connections on AC DB boards
• Torquing connections
• AC Board quality control
• Testing and fault finding from 12 V to 400 V
• Testing and inspecting all AC installations
• Placing large AC equipment according to GA drawings
• Installation of Energy meters and CT’s
• Safely isolate, test and work on AC mini subs up to 1100V
• Re-energize mini subs and confirming electricity to loads

DC related:

• Wire large scale commercial Solar PV plants according to client drawings
• Fault finding on DC strings on PV plant
• DC MC 4 terminations and labelling
• Testing and inspection on all strings and connections
• Allocating strings to Inverters to easily identify the source
• Inter-connecting Solar Modules to achieve correct string Voltages according to client drawings

Mechanical-related duties:

Installation of:

• RFHD and RFMD trays, covers and labels
• Walkways
• Solar PV mounting structure
• Solar Modules
• Inverters and isolators
• Straightening Solar Modules
• Mounting and installing P2000 channels as support structure
• All types of cable managements (attention to detail on all of the above)

Must be able to:

• Work safely on heights (Training will be done)
• Liaise with clients
• Report accurately to management
• Manage stock and order to avoid delays
• Manage a team to optimize production
• Manage and record attendance of employees on site
• Complete safety file daily and assess risk involving the task at hand
