In the role of Asset Management (AM) Engineer you will deliver specific aspects of The City of Calgary’s Asset Management Program, to all asset managing Business Units across the organization, in order to ensure compliance with Asset Management policy, legislative requirements, and best practices. Primary duties include:
  • Lead the development, implementation, and operation of City-wide AM best practices, including the implementation of the AM Plan Framework and the process and tools within asset managing Business Units.
  • Provide asset management consultation, advice, coaching, and mentoring to Business Units with respect to all aspects of The City’s AM Program.
  • Ensure compliance with Cit-wide AM Policy and Strategy by promoting the cost/benefit of compliance, monitoring asset managing Business Unit’s performance, and providing feedback when there is variance in compliance.
  • Establish linkage between Tangible Capital Assets and The City’s AM Program by creating business rules, processes, and standard operating procedures for asset managing Business Units across the organization
  • Create Asset Management Plans with Implementation Plans for Business Units across the organization related to the practice of AM.
  • Manage and supervise external consultants for the implementation and operation of the AM Planning Framework within the asset managing business units.
  • Lead competency reviews of asset managing Business Unit staff assigned to AM activities.
  • Monitor asset management and technology research, trends, and developments to be able to make recommendations to The City-wide AM Program.
  • A degree in Engineering, registration as a Professional Engineer in Canada, and current licensure as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) or licensure by the first day of work.
  • At least 4 years of experience including in strategic business planning.
  • Experience in industry asset management best practices and applications and Project Management experience.
  • Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, facilitation, management, presentation skills, analytical thinking, business literacy and planning.
