Business Developer – Agriculture

About the Job:

TrenStar has exciting career opportunities for dynamic Business Developers – Agriculture, in the areas of Groblersdal and Tzaneen/ Letsite. These positions are sales focused and the successful candidates will be reporting to the National Business Development Manager and will be responsible for marketing and selling the company’s returnable packaging and technology solutions into the Agriculture Sector. You’ll become part of an efficient and collaborative team making a real contribution to a smarter, more sustainable future in the Agriculture Sector.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prospect and secure potential Clients to achieve annual new business sales targets
  • Generate sales opportunities and implement sales strategies for TEAMAgri technology solutions that include the full suite of technology solitions including Spray, Harvest, Scouting, Asset Management and pruning visibility applications
  • Identify and close returnable packaging opportunities relating to Harvest, Storage and equipment supply to markets
  • Maintain a strong relationship with the Client through query resolution and proactive identification of potential challenges, needs and requirements
  • Accurately submit such requirements accurately to relevant stakeholders to assist with solution development
  • Meet targets as per annual sales budget and prepare and report on the Company’s monthly sales figures with full variance analysis
  • Assist in producing research documents and stay abreast of industry matters
  • Stay abreast with Company’s product / service offerings and industry conditions to enhance successful Client outcomes
  • Partner with the Project team, Key Account Management team, and inter-company partners to implement best practices in the implementation of solutions and problem solving
  • Identify product improvements or new products by keeping abreast on industry trends, market activities, and competitors
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, exhibitions, trade shows, reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices and participating in professional workshops.

Desired Experience & Qualification


  • Matric / Grade 12
  • Sales and Marketing Degree or Equivalent
  • Advanced command of MS Office

Essential Skills:

  • The ability to write detailed proposals and reports
  • Self-motivated and a competitive nature; confident and persuasive
  • Excellent Presentation Skills
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English and Afrikaans
  • Proven ability to negotiate and close deals fast and efficiently
  • Creative & an inherent passion for Sales
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills

Minimum Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years proven overall business development experience of which at least 3 years in the Agri sector
